Temporary assingmnet (3 months or longer) B Shift: 5pm or 6pm to 1:30am or 2:30am, 16 to 30 hours per week. Job Description Definition Under general supervision, the candidate will be responsible for the installation of various type of equipment per manufacturer's specifications found in transit light and heavy rail vehicles. The position requires frequent lifting, climbing, standing, crouching, squatting, bending and kneeling. The position may require weekend and/or holiday work. This work must be done in accordance to accepted standards of the trade, supervisory direction, Company established procedures, practices, and specifications. Examples of Duties 1. Following a pre-established schedule for the installation of equipment on transit vehicles including those associated with propulsion, trucks, pneumatic supply and brake control, air conditioning, fiberglass panels, glass, flooring, doors as required to achieve manufacturer specifications 2. Uses precision measuring devices in the course of the work. 3. Measures and inspects completed work to confirm adherence to specifications. 4. Record all findings accurately in provided Test Reports, for inclusion into Car History Books that follow each completed vehicle such as torque values, part and serial numbers. 5. Performs modifications to rail vehicle as directed by engineering and supervisory staff. 6. Reads and interprets engineering drawings, manuals and work orders. 7. Documents work performed and parts and materials used; follows specified safety procedures. Skill in: a€ cents Using and maintaining hand and power tools equipment of the trade. a€ cents Understanding and following oral and written directions. a€ cents Maintaining accurate records of work performed and materials used. a€ cents Establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with those contacted in the course of the work. a€ cents May perform welding and burning a€ cents Some computer skills. a€ cents Good Customer relationship Requirements Minimum Qualifications a€ cents Must have a minimum of a High School diploma or equivalent a€ cents College/ Technical trade school degree/ certificate preferred. a€ cents 2+ yrs experience, desired in light rail or transportation environment. a€ cents Experience in installation of electrical and mechanic equipment. a€ cents Requires a thorough understanding of assembly build practices and procedures a€ cents Must have good mathematical skills a€ cents Knowledge of mechanical, hydraulic and pneumatic systems. a€ cents Knowledge and skill in the use of specialized tools, equipment and measurements necessary to meet established standards. a€ cents Ability to read, write and communicate proficiently in English. a€ cents Must own and maintain a basic hand tool set. a€ cents Experience ln precision measuring equipment ie, caliper, micrometer, pie tape, etc a€ cents Experience in mechanical torque techniques. a€ cents Must have experience working within and maintaining a safe work environment. a€ cents Experience with working in diverse and busy team environments. a€ cents Ability to read and understand drawings, blueprints Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. a€ cents Ability to prioritize and work well under pressure and against deadlines. a€ cents Excellent interpersonal skills in a team environment. a€ cents Must be able to read and understand work orders a€ cents Attention to quality control and customer service. a€ cents Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. a€ cents Ability to work in confined spaces. a€ cents Ability to work with minimum of supervision a€ cents Self-motivated and ability to multi-task
