Job Description ET Precision Optics, Inc. is a precision machine shop specializing in precision optical, medical, defense, aerospace and electronic industries. Due to growth we have the following position available for A Shift, 10 hours /day working 4 days (Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday & Thursday) per week. Overtime on Friday’s when needed. Summary: Responsible for the safe operation of a Computerized Numerical Control Machining Center (CNC) or other production machines doing repetitive operations and possesses the ability to change cutting tools and tool offsets. 2 or more years’ experience with Swiss-Lathe. Basic to intermediate knowledge of Swiss-Type setup. Experience with precision measuring tools such as dial/digital drop indicators, calipers, micrometers, thread gauges, profilometers, and comparators. Accustomed to de-burring, basic machine maintenance, parts cleaning (solvents, oils), print reading and complex shop math. Diverse understanding of CNC control, & operation. Experienced with offsetting and moderate program manipulation. Tolerances to 0.0001” Must have an understanding of safe operation of metal working equipment, including but not limited to starting and stopping the machining cycle. Must be able to read, understand and interpret blueprints and specifications, including GD&T. Observes and listens to machine operation to detect malfunctions, such as worn or damaged cutting tools. Performs a variety of inspection and gaging operations to insure maintenance of quality standards and specifications and have the ability to record the results of these inspections. Able to interrupt the machining cycle to change tools and/or offsets and restart the machine in mid-cycle. Notifies Team Leader of discrepancies. Cleans machine, tooling, and parts as instructed. Performs daily preventative machine maintenance as instructed. Qualifications: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Education/Experience: High school diploma or general education degree (GED); and 2+ years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Communication Skills: Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, procedure manuals, mechanical drawings and specifications. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees. Reasoning Ability: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
