If you answered yes to these questions, then a career with The Arc of Monroe may be right for you!As a Registered Nurse for The Arc s residential program you will provide nursing services to adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities in compliance with regulatory guidelines. You will ensure that individuals are receiving appropriate, ongoing health care and coordinate health care and documentation between their families, community residences and day/work programs. Other responsibilities include developing individualized health plans for each individual with objectives and strategies that are reevaluated and adjusted as needed, assessing health status of individuals in medical emergencies and ensuring that appropriate treatment is received, and providing direct support to individuals by assisting with living skills, facilitating community inclusion and developing behavioral supports.The Registered Nurse also supervises and monitors medication administration by unlicensed personnel and the giving of healthcare to residents, ensuring compliance with health care standards and regulations.Required Skills+ Valid drivers license. Availability of insured personal vehicle to transport self and/or individuals as necessary.+ Basic computer literacy (e-mail, Internet searches, simple edits to Word documents and Excel spreadsheets)+ Must have excellent communication skills including verbal and written. Must be able to summarize information and describe medical situations using descriptive, objective language.+ Strong problem-solving ability, attention to detail and the ability to adapt to quickly changing needs.+ Must be able to relate to people with sensitivity, tact and objectivity.Physical Requirements+ Standing 25% of the time. Walking 25% of the time. Sitting 50% of the time.+ Occasionally required to stoop, kneel, or crouch. Frequently required to reach.+ Work is primarily sedentary in nature, and the worker is not exposed to adverse environmental conditions.+ Required to exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and up to 20 pounds of force frequently.+ Close visual acuity to determine the accuracy, neatness, and thoroughness of the work assigned, or perform an activity such as: preparing and analyzing data and figures, viewing a computer terminal, and extensive reading.+ Individual may be exposed to infectious diseases.Required ExperienceOne year experience in a human service/medical field.
