**3647BR** **Position Title:** Director of STEP Program **Organization:** K-12 Programs **Detailed Job Description:** **NOTE: Some Saturdays and overnights required. The STEP Director will be present during the STEP Saturday Academy (6 Saturdays per year). Travel to regional meetings and to Albany for two annual conferences is required.** The Director of RIT STEP has oversight and responsibility for all aspects of the RIT STEP program. With support from the Assistant Director, he/she will manage the day-to-day operations of RIT STEP as it relates to student and parent programming in fulfillment of the RIT STEP grant objectives. The position will be responsible for facilitating and negotiating relationships with partner schools, school administrators, and school counselors. The Director will provide leadership and direct supervision to all STEP staff. The Director will design the program calendar and will lead in the development of educationally sound workshops, camps, and events to meet grant objectives. The Director of RIT STEP is responsible for the administrative management of the grant and serves as the key representative of the program to the funder, to RIT Sponsored Research, RIT Sponsored Programs Accounting, and the RIT K-12 University Center Leadership Team. The Director of RIT STEP is responsible for the accurate, thorough, and on time completion of all STEP reports. With support from the K-12 Staff Accountant, he/she will be responsible for the overall financial management of the grant - ensuring that all expenditures are efficient, follow appropriate grant and college protocol, are permissible according to grant spending regulations, and are appropriately documented. The STEP Director will be responsible for collecting match documentation from partner schools. The Director of RIT STEP oversees the STEP database. He/she will work with STEP staff and partner schools to regularly secure student data and document day-to-day program services. Additionally, the Director of RIT STEP will develop and implement an internal system of assessment to measure the impact of RIT STEP. He/she will regularly review STEP data and make required changes to ensure achievement of all program objectives. The Director of RIT STEP will report to the Director of the RIT K-12 University Center. While the STEP Director will have an office at RIT, he/she will regularly visit the partner schools to provide support to site-based STEP programming. The successful candidate will have significant experience in informal STEM education and will hold a Master's degree in education, counseling, youth development, or a STEM field. He/she will have experience in grant management and in managing a staff. Click the link for search openings and in the keyword search field, enter the title of the position or the BR number. **Wage Band** **:** 117A **Required Minimum Qualifications:** + Master's degree in Education, Counseling, Youth Development, or STEM field. + 3 years of experience in informal STEM education + 3 years of experience in grant administration + Strong knowledge of NYS high school graduation requirements and high school academic standards. + Strong knowledge of college readiness curriculums, including soft skill and middle skill development. + Experience in leading a team and managing employees. + Extensive experience in grant-funded, k-12 outreach initiatives with specific focus on underserved populations. + Experience in writing grant proposals and/or closing grants. + Demonstrated success with using grant objectives to inform program design as well as evidence- based program design. + Significant experience in the design and delivery of K-12 programming. + Experience managing a budget with efficient and strategic spending in line with grant requirements. + Strong interpersonal and organizational skills; must be adept at communicating with audiences of all backgrounds and education levels + Values and supports individual differences. Knows when to elevate issues **PLEASE NOTE:** The individual hired for this position will be required to have a pre-employment Motor Vehicle check, and the Motor Vehicle Report must clear RIT's Safe Driving Policy (please refer to page 4) **Preferred Qualifications:** + Experience working with the Rochester City, Rush Henrietta, or Greece Central school districts preferred. + Experience with GEAR UP, federal TRiO, or NYS grant-funded K-12 program (STEP, LPP, etc.) preferred. + 5 years of grant administration preferred. + Teaching, administrative, or school counseling certification preferred. **Department/College Description:** The RIT Science & Technology Entry Program (STEP) is a state-funded, grant-based initiative that aims to encourage and support youth from historically underrepresented and underserved groups to pursue college and careers in science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) fields as well as the New York state licensed professions. An initiative of the RIT K-12 University Center, RIT STEP serves 300 middle and high school youth from schools in the Rochester City, Rush Henrietta, and Greece Central school districts.
