Opening Full Time 40 hours Grade 055 Simon Grad Sch OSE Responsibilities General Purpose: The Director of MBA advising for the Simon School of Business, as part of the Office of Student Engagement, plans and implements the key touchpoints in the student's experience, achieving organization goals for support of student academic and program goals. In addition, is the focal point for school wide student crisis management and advocacy. The director is responsible for managing the objectives of the MBA advising team and implementing and overseeing services and programs such as: Advising (Academic, Social, and Crisis) for the full- time programs, including interpretive counsel on college requirements, policies, regulations and standards; assisting students having academic difficulties, act as liaison between students and administration. The director will understand and assist in interpreting policy and regulations for international students, in close coordination with the International Services Office. Specific Responsibilities: Under minimal direction and with latitude for independent judgment: Student Engagement Strategy: Plans the annual calendar of proactive outreach for each student/student group that ensures timely and relevant program information, assessment and action planning for academic and career goals, and appropriate engagement with leadership opportunities. Documents and provides counsel on MBA students' personal development plan. Student Advising Activities: Coordinates Advises Simon full time graduate students in course selection, academic progress, academic problems and any classroom issues affecting performance in the program. Provides information regarding Simon School and concentration requirements and interprets them; explains evaluations and advises students on related University, College and departmental policy. Counsels students and provides referrals for specialized assistance. Coordinates any student withdrawals, medical leaves, or leaves of absence. Supports activities of the School's Academic Administrative Committee and Academic Integrity Committee, and communicate decisions to students. Student Life and Non Academic Counseling: In conjunction with OSE management, develops and implements the personal development plan for MBA students. Proactively works with a student and their personal development plan to identify growth opportunities and resources. In addition, counsels individual students on individual and group problems and social relationships. Refers students to various University services as needed. Policy and Process: Develops, implements and administers relevant policies and processes related to the student experience and Simon School overall. Creates and implements systematic processes to make the student experience better, in collaboration with the student engagement team and cross-functional groups. Plays a key role in providing feedback to faculty, curriculum and program committees and cross organizational working groups to reflect student academic needs and issues. Student Engagement clubs: May be an advisor to student clubs, with specific roles and responsibilities to help the club achieve its goals. This will include nights and weekend activities, with the goal to strengthen the relationship between students and the school. Provide specific industry and content advice based on employee experience and expertise. Manages advising team to achieve organization goals and Simon School strategic goals. Effectively mentors, coaches and guides advising staff. Requirements: Bachelor's degree plus 3-5 years of related experience (10+ years of experience preferred); or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Master's degree in counseling or higher education preferred. The candidate must understand and enthusiastically uphold the values and behaviors of the Office of Student engagement. These values include responsiveness, timely and relevant communication, treating all interactions with respect and empathy, fulfilling assigned responsibilities with excellence, and the ability to collaborate effective within and across teams.
