POSITION SUMMARY We are seeking a highly capable Storage Systems Engineer to join our Infrastructure Group. We have a very stable and talented team of experienced Infrastructure professionals who manage a very large and complex encvironment. One of our Senior Systems Engineers's will be retiring within the next 1-2 months and this will create a new opening in our team. Primary responsibilities will include the Enginering & Administration of our Storage environment (EMC, NetApp). In addition, this indiviual will have other Data Center Adminitration responsibilites that will include Windows Server Management, Systems Automation (Powershell) and supporting our Virtualization strategies (VMware). ESSENTIONAL JOB FUNCTIONS Leads, plans and implements infrastructure products and related componentsAssists Network and Development Operations teams in identifying opportunities within our target market where storage, server and virtualization solutions will meet a business need or requirement of our clientsInstalls/Configures/Troubleshoots/Support technical solutions as designed in a lab or production environmentServes as top-level technical expert in the analysis, design, implementation, and maintenance of all assigned projects, responsible for their overall security, integrity and reliabilityWorks independently or as a team leadDocuments installation/configuration informationTranslates client business needs into a technical solutionPossesses expert knowledge on minimally one virtualization technologyPossesses expert knowledge on minimally one storage technologiesAdministers and maintains our NAS\SAN environmentAssists Development team in identifying and qualifying opportunitiesGathers client specific business and technical requirementsCommunicates, promotes and presents PDS consulting expertise and capabilities in storage to clients and prospectsMaintains Technical Solutions Architect (Hybrid) responsibilitiesIdentifies business drivers and technical requirements to develop the optimal solution(s)Performs client education tasks such as technical demonstrations, technology overview sessions, and solution proposal sessionsPerforms technical assessments as required by the identified opportunityAssists in responding to Request for Proposals (RFP) opportunitiesWorks independently or in collaboration with senior management or other development operations to:Create Statement(s) of Work and Bill of Materials for assigned opportunitiesDesign solutions and plan delivery with the client, sales and service delivery teamsCompletes required presales documentation (configurations, pricing guidance, services, presentations, justifications etc.) quickly and accuratelyQualifies sales opportunities in the terms of customer technical requirements, decision making process and fundingPerforms competitive analysis tasks for proposed solutions and servicesRemains current with new and emerging technologies and assist in new solution developmentQUALIFICATIONS Bachelor's degree in a computer-sciences related field, or equivalent demonstrated training and experience. Appropriate technical certifications are a plus7+ years of experience in overall IT (systems engineering/administration)5+ years of experience working with server solutions4+ year of experience working with storage solutions3+ years technical experience with datacenter virtualization solutionsvSphere, vCloud Director, vShield experience requiredVMware VCP5 or VCP6 required2+ years of experience configuring, troubleshooting, and administering IT networking and storage solutionsOverall understanding of NFS, CIFS, ISCSI, SMB and FC protocols.Enterprise Backup and Disaster Recovery experience required (Avamar experience a plus)PowerShell scripting and automation experience highly preferredMicrosoft Windows administration skills requiredLinux systems administration skills preferred2+ years of experience in infrastructure architecture and design of complex distributed systems environments, including failover techniques, recovery/rollback, and application partitioningExcellent oral and written communication skillsProven ability to lead enterprise-scale technical projectsDeep understanding of IT industry standards and architecture principles designExperience in developing and communicating architectural visionAble to operate across multiple projects concurrentlyPlease contact Wayne Federation for additional information: 585-746-4199 |
