Summit Technology Services has a long term contract for a Software Test Engineer in Rochester, NY

We are looking for a Software Test Engineer to perform testing and test automation on a large product development program. The engineer will work on a team to test a distributed application in a networked radio environment. The engineer will participate in an Agile software development process as a Scrum team member, participating in all relevant Scrum activities. They will be integrated with the Agile Scrum software development teams to test work in progress, create automated tests, and create manual tests. They will assist in test strategy definition and execution for the overall project.
The test engineer will utilize background documentation to clarify their work, including use cases, requirements, and formal design artifacts.

Qualifications and Experience with:
• Developing/Implementing the automation of regression tests.
• Determining what parts of regression testing can be automated.
• Software Processes including Agile and Waterfall
• Performing verification of User Stories
• Regression testing of sprint increments
• Perform ad hoc testing of sprint increment, balancing with the knowledge of what has been implemented and what is still on the backlog
• Reviewing Unit Tests written by developers
• Reviewing Integration tests written by developers
• Performing a Cost-Value analysis of automation vs. manual tests
• Helping to refine acceptance criteria of user stories with eye toward testability and validation.
• Creating the formal test documents per contractual Processes.
• Software coding and testing on multiple platforms.
• Experience with: C#, Microsoft Visual Studio, Microsoft .NET, Linux, Issue Tracking Software, Source Control Software, Requirement Management, Software Design.
• Writing sample projects / programs that can be submitted to open source community for issues we find with our development environment/tools.
• Strong communication skills, and ability to effectively interact with their team and external stakeholders.
• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, computer engineering, software engineering or equivalent experience required.
• Must be a US Citizen.
• A security clearance will not be required.
• Proactive, Fast learner.
• Optionally: Participate in writing Unit and Integration Tests
• Optionally: Help maintain Continuous Integration Server for Unit and Integration tests
• An understanding of technology in the network management and radio planning technology space, including network planning and IP configuration.
• Experience with Network Management Systems.
• Experience with Frequency Propagation Analysis Systems.
• Be able to develop if necessary.
Experience in a development environment consisting of:
• Windows/Linux (.net core)
• C# /Java
• Restful Services
• Agile/Scrum
• Formal requirements and Formal test documents would be required
• Jira (Optional)
• TeamCity (Optional)
