Summit Technology Services has a long term contract opening for a Radio Systems Engineer in Rochester, NY

The candidate will be a member of a team responsible for system design and documentation of Military Radio Communications Systems. This includes developing new tactical military communication systems architectures based on formal and informal program requirements, drafting of technical documentation and white papers to describe system capabilities to customers, program management, and sub-contractors. The candidate will be working with cross functional teams including engineering, product management, program management, logistics, sales and finance.

• Work in a team environment, with Integrated Product Team (IPT) Lead and other technical leads to ensure that work product(s) are released on budget and on schedule while meeting all Key Performance Parameters (KPPs).
• Ensure logical and systematic conversion of customer or product requirements into total systems solutions that acknowledge technical, schedule and cost constraints.
• Ensure all requirements are verifiable.
• Work with cross-functional engineering staff (electrical, mechanical, networking, software) to develop and maintain requirements throughout the system lifecycle.
• Write high quality technical and commercial documents and reports and present them to both internal and external stakeholders.
• Leverage proven processes, lessons learned, and best practices from other parts of the business or industry.

• BS in Engineering or other technical field and 5+ years of experience or Masters Degree with 3+ years of work experience
• Complete understanding and wide application of technical principles, theories and systems engineering concepts. General knowledge of other related disciplines
• Conduct system level trade studies, system concept and architecture development, and system engineering design reviews
• Experience with writing technical documentation including development of documentation required of government contracts such as contract data requirements list (CDRL) and data item descriptions (DID) deliverables
• Experience performing functional analysis, requirements allocation and interface definition to translate customer requirements into hardware and software specifications
• Experience with HF, VHF, UHF, Microwave, Tactical SATCOM, and networking waveforms is desired (Harris Radio experience a plus)
• Experience with Mil-Std 461F and MIL-STD 810G is desired

Preferred Skills:
Experience in one or more of the following areas:
• Project Management experience (PMI PMP certification is a plus)
• Requirements Development/Management
• Knowledge of Requirements based tools, including DOORS (requirements data base tool)
• Experience supervising and mentoring entry level engineers.
• Proficiency at writing clear and concise language tailored to a wide variety of audiences. Successful candidate will possess excellent technical, interpersonal and customer skills, plus demonstrate the capacity to effectively foster team building within and beyond his/her IPT.
• Packaging and performance verification of electrical systems for harsh environments including rugged packaging for transport and mobile applications. Military Systems experience in this area a plus.
• Working familiarity with applicable regulations and best practices; e.g., NEC, UL, TUV, CSA, Mil Spec.
• Experience with process improvement in a CMMI and ISO9001 work environment.
• Experience with management of subcontractors
• International travel experiences as well as foreign language proficiency a plus.

All work is at client site and is under ITAR restrictions so candidates must be Green Card or US Citizens.
