Digital Imaging Hardware Design Engineer Job Summary:seeking a self-driven and motivated Applications Systems Engineer to join their team of highly skilled and professional Engineers in the Image Sensors Group (ISG). The successful candidate will have a dual role as an Applications Engineer and a Systems Engineer supporting Charged Couple Device(CCD) and Complementary Metal-Oxide-Semiconductor (CMOS) image sensors.Performance Objectives:As an Applications Engineer the successful candidate will:* Directly support customers with the integration of CCD and CMOS image sensors from the Industrial Solutions Division (ISD) into the customer*s end products.* Collaborate with the product engineering and sensor design teams to coordinate the activities necessary to enable successful implementation of Industrial Solutions Division*s image sensors for the customer.* Lead communications with the regional Field Applications Engineers and the Sales Team during the integration process.* Support the debug and test of the Image Sensor as applied in the customer*s application using available Demonstration Hardware or Evaluation Kits developed by ISD.As a Systems Engineer, the successful candidate will:* Perform Digital and Analog circuit designs to integrate newly developed CCD and CMOS image sensors from ISD into Demonstration Platforms and Evaluation Kits. These designs will be used at Trade Shows as well as for Customer Reference Designs.* Take on responsibility of the hardware design from *cradle to grave*.* Work with the Firmware Engineer (FPGA designer), Software Engineer (MS Win7 C ) and Image Scientist to produce a finished product for demonstration and/or as a product sold to customers.* Understand and perform basic Image Sensor Characterization (ie Linearity, PTC, Read Noise measurement, etc) to assess the image sensor*s performance.Overall, this role will:* Provide technical support for the regional Field Applications Engineers for any activity related to Imaging.* Drive collaboration with marketing, design, product engineering and system engineering by providing feedback on existing or future customer requirements and any image sensor improvements they may see needed.* Perform basic operational tests, characterization, optimization and integration support of the ISD Image sensor portfolio.* Provide support in benchmarking of competitive products. This may include image sensor characterization, image quality analysis, learning and understanding a competitor*s camera level functionality, etc.* Provide product training (semi-annually) and updates for regional Field Applications Engineers.* Maintenance of product datasheets and application notes.* Support failure analysis and other application-specific support for ON Quality processes.* Provide direct support to our large volume customers if the technical need is beyond the Local or Regional FAE*s technical skills. This may include review of customer schematic and layout designs, test and debug of image sensor performance under certain test conditions as well as mechanical or thermal analysis of the customer*s system design. This may also include travel to Customer Sites for face to face meetings and hands on testing.* Occasionally travel international (1-2 times/yr)* Occasionally support trade shows if needed (2-3 trade shows/year)* Minimum BSEE with 15 years related experience* Minimum of 5 years experience in Digital Imaging, Altium Designer Schematic Capture, PCB Layout and Simulation* Working knowledge of solid state image sensors (CCD and CMOS) and device physics* Working knowledge of electro-optical systems design* Hardware design and development of CMOS and CCD imager based camera systems* Hardware design experience with CameraLink, USB3.0, High Speed LVDS* Proficient with designing low noise, Analog and Mixed Signal Analog circuits and layout techniquesDesired:* Working experience with FPGA design (VHDL/Verilog) in Image Processing systems (Xilinx based)* Working experience with MS Windows C/C SW designCMOS, image Sensor, CCD, ISD, PCB, CameraLink, FPGA, VHDL etc
