We have a direct hire opportunity for an Application Support Supervisor for a distributor in Rochester, NY. In this position you will be responsible for the supporting the client's RPG environment on the AS/400 platform. Pay is negotiable, depending on experience. PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES: Manage support of Application functionality of the client's RPG programs, primarily first shift, although occasional off hours work is required Manage warehouse IT operations - troubleshoot problems, create tools, and eliminate operational weaknesses stemming from IT applications Develop, Code or modify, test, and debug application programs of varying degree of complexity using RPG coding skills. Install applications into production environments following change control processes. Investigate user problems, identify their source, determine possible solutions, test and implement solutions. Investigate, identify, and implement application system changes or develop new applications. Supervise a small (7-8) group of RPG Developer/Analysts with 24 hour support responsibilities Analyze and evaluate existing or proposed application systems to process data. Collaborate with other team members to meet project deadlines. Some regional travel may be required. (Less than 10%) Working conditions are normal for an office/warehouse environment. Responsibilities may require overtime weekend work in response to needs of the systems being supported. Local candidates only, please! REQUIRED SKILLS: 5+ years of "hands on" RPG IT application development and support experience 2+ years of Supervisory / Management experience in an application development / support environment We are looking for support experience with RPG/Free, RPG ILE, CL, IFS, DB400, RPGSQL, SQL400, Stored Procedures, EDI, and FTP. Helpful: Experience working with ERP, WMS, warehouse operations automation, and accounting applications extremely helpful. Helpful: MSSQL, Oracle would be a real plus Degree in Information Technology/Computer Science or other relevant degree required. Strong customer orientation and customer service skills Flexibility to do whatever it takes to maintain high level of service Strong written and verbal English communication and interpersonal skills including phone and email correspondence. Self-motivated and well organized. Ability to work in a fast paced environment and deliver with quality. Ability to work well in a team establishing good working relationships with peers. Strong problem solving and analytical skills. Ability to multitask and prioritize tasks with a strong attention to detail. Will be responsible for supporting business processes around warehousing, and transportation. Basic knowledge with computer and network security systems, applications, procedures, and techniques.
