Opening Full Time 40 hours Grade 051 Neurosurgery Management Schedule 8 AM-4:30 PM Responsibilities **Position Summary:** Under the general direction of the Finance Manager, with latitude to exercise independent judgment, performs professional accounting work at an operating level requiring knowledge and application of general accounting theory, techniques and practices. Staff Accountant will provide backup support to the Finance Manager. **Typical Duties:** Reconciles ledger accounts in order to confirm completeness and accuracy of data; uses judgement as to whether account balances are reasonable. Examines accounting documents to ascertain that transactions are properly supported in accordance with University policy and procedures; initiates corrective action or recommends solutions as appropriate. Prepares routine working papers, exhibits and summaries supporting findings and recommendations. Prepares a variety of routine financial statements or accounting reports for which the format has been established. Performs property reconciliations, space surveys, participates in monthly financial reporting efforts, monitors and verifies corrections and assists in budget creation and management. Reviews non-patient care revenue, including professional service contracts, license agreements, and contracts. Monitors contracts, generates invoices, and troubleshoots and resolves any issues with payments. Reviews purchase of goods and services for the department. Aids in getting vendors approved by purchasing. Reviews standing POs, ensuring that they are adequately funded with the appropriate time periods. Troubleshoots and takes corrective action when vendors are not paid timely. Tracks the effort and distribution of personnel associated with grant accounts. Ensures that all salaries, FTE, and other associated information is entered into the accounting system and that action is taken when errors are identified or changes need to be processed. **Qualifications**: Bachelor's degree in Accounting, and 1 year of professional accounting experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience. CLASP certification required, either at time of hire or obtained with the first year of employment. Knowledge of University's financial system (Workday), federal guidelines, and financial operations preferred.
