Enterprise Risk Management - Entry Level As an Internal Staff Auditor/Consultant with Freed Maxick CPAs, PC, you will be part of one of the largest public accounting firms in Western New York and a Top 100 Firm in the US. In client assignments, Staff Internal Auditors/Consultants work as members of the engagement team, under the supervision of the In-Charge Auditor. The Staff Auditor's function in client assignments is primarily that of performing assigned tasks to assist in the completion of the engagements. Staff Auditors start at Freed Maxick with a group of other recent college graduates. The Firm provides orientation and training, as well as the necessary continuing professional education (CPE) to maintain your individual licensing. In addition, employees are offered the opportunity to develop professionally through Firm seminars and other courses, such as local, regional and self-study courses. In-house training programs are given regularly which cover a wide range of subjects, including those which are applicable to a specific industry or discipline. At the time of hire, Staff Auditors are assigned a Performance Advisor, who provides feedback and works with you to set and achieve career goals. Employees are evaluated on a regular basis and meet with their Performance Advisor to discuss the results of the evaluations. Our Firm also has a Career Coach and a Training/Development Specialist who will meet with you regularly to review your performance and career goals. Freed Maxick offers a "buddy system" to ease the transition of Staff Auditors into their role. This program pairs you with a go-to person to help you acclimate to the professional services environment. The buddy is not your supervisor, but rather an employee close to the same level within the company who can offer insight into any given area. In the role of Internal Auditor/Consultant, you will: Work in a multi-client environment as part of a team Participate in conducting SOX 404 engagements, including assessments, internal control documentation and testing of controls; Perform financial, operational and/or IT audits for clients (education in 1-2 of these disciplines required) Conduct internal audit engagements, control reviews, process improvement reviews, etc. Identify and recommend internal audit best practices Prepare clear and concise work papers Creatively generate and develop practical recommendations that clients can implement to realize benefits and value Consult on internal control design and operating effectiveness Gather and interpret internal audit evidence and provide effective documentation Perform various testing procedures Process mapping and analysis, data mining, ability to gather information through personal interviews and present it to management for decision making purposes Monitor changes to process documentation including risk monitoring Proactively identify gaps or conflicts in existing processes and work to develop solutions; communicate potential control gaps to Managers along with suggested remediation Make presentations (on behalf of or with the Managers and Director) to the CFO and/or company management Work with clients to execute their internal initiatives Relationship management with the users of technical solutions Assurance of compliance with all project disciplines Requirements of the position: Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Information Systems or Internal Audit (150 hours required for those who wish to pursue their CPA) The desire to pursue certification - CIA, CPA, CISA, CISSA, PMP Working knowledge of COSO and SOX internal control requirements Ability to work effectively on teams, helping clients improve processes Change management and project management a strong plus Strong interpersonal, verbal and written communication and presentation skills; solid organizational skills Client satisfaction driven attitude Willingness and ability to travel approximately nationally and internationally approximately 50%; a significant amount within the WNY region Strong analytical and research skills Strong computer skills, especially Microsoft Office TO APPLY: Email a cover letter, resume and transcript to eoe
