Title: Director of Finance - Rochester, NY Job Type: Professional Department: Finance Online Application: Click Here Job Summary: Job Purpose: Provide supervision and support to the Agency Finance Department under guidance of the Chief Financial Officer. Ensures all accounting, bookkeeping, budgeting, etc. meets all State and Federal regulations, and meets the requirements of the Agency's current needs. Essential Functions: * Supervise Finance Department accounting, bookkeeping and clerical staff as assigned including hiring, performance management and training. * Under direction of the CFO prepare and submit the annual Consolidated Fiscal Report. * Maintain Finance Department policies and procedures, internal control systems, and daily processes. * Assist CFO in development and implementation of departmental policies and procedures and internal control systems. * Oversee and monitor month-end close and year-end close. Oversee and monitor preparation for all audits. * Prepare financial reports, spreadsheets and analyses, and other management reports. * Review internal financial statements with Program VP/Directors. * Maintain and monitor agency contracts and compliance with all grant requirements. * Assist CFO in budget development for new agency programs and ventures and in development of Agency annual budget. * Oversee and maintain financial reporting requirements. * Oversee and maintain all facets of managed care and medical billing. * Monitor all receipts and disbursements. * Oversee and maintain department-specific software including: general ledger, payroll, assets and others as appropriate. * Attend trainings, participate on committees and complete other tasks and assignments as required. Education and Experience: * Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with a major in accounting, finance or closely related field; and * Minimum 5 years accounting and finance experience with progressively demanding and complex job assignments, including at least 3 years of experience supervising multiple staff; or * Other combinations of equivalent education and experience that provide the required knowledge base and abilities may qualify for this position. * Advanced proficiency in financial and cost accounting including comprehensive understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP). * Advanced proficiency in Excel. * Ability to prepare clear, concise and easily understandable reports, worksheets and analyses. * Proficiency in multi-layered budget preparation. * Proficiency in general ledger software (Fund EZ preferred). Qualifications: * Maintain a valid New York State driver's license; a vehicle is required to perform the job * Must have high level of interpersonal skills to handle sensitive and confidential situations; Position continually requires demonstrated poise, tact, and diplomacy * Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work closely with staff members at all levels throughout the agency, representatives of outside agencies, customers and the general public. * Advanced analytical and problem-solving skills. * Advanced time management and organizational skills. * Able to work independently and as a team player * Must be willing to complete specific Agency-required training specific to the job * Work requires continuous attention to detail in composing, typing, and proofing materials * Able to establish priorities and meet deadlines * Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment with demonstrated ability to juggle multiple tasks and demands Desired Skills: * Non-profit accounting experience including: CFR schedules and preparation, Medicaid billing, and familiarity with OPWDD regulations. * Medicaid billing experience. * Managed care experience.
